RAGDOLL
Writers: Steven Tyler/Joe Perry/Jim Vallance/Holly Knight
Rag doll, livin’ in a movie
Hot tramp, daddy’s little cutie
You’re so fine, they’ll never see ya leavin’ by the back door, mam
Hot time get it while it’s easy
Don’t mind come on up and see me
Rag doll baby won’t you do me like you done before
I’m feelin’ like a bad boy
Mm just a like a bad boy
I’m rippin’ up a Rag Doll
Like throwin’ away an old toy
Some babe’s talkin’ real loud
Talkin’ all about the new crowd
Try and tell me of an old dream
A new version of the old scene
Speak easy on the grape vine
Keep shufflin’ in a shoe shine
Old tin lizzy do it till you’re dizzy
Give it all ya got until you’re put out of your misery
Rag doll, livin’ in a movie
Hot tramp, daddy’s little cutie
You’re so fine, they’ll never see ya leavin’ by the back door, mam
Hot time get it while it’s easy
Don’t mind come on up and see me
Rag doll baby won’t you do me like you done before
Yes I’m movin’
Yes I’m movin’
Get ready for the big time
Tap dancing on a land mine
Yes I’m movin’
Yes I’m movin’
Old tin lizzy do it till you’re dizzy
Give it all ya got until you’re put out of your misery

Baby won’t ya do me like you done before
Yes I’m movin’

1. RAGDOLL
Ragdoll/ Aerosmith
‘This is the one time in my career where I agreed to be brought in to ‘tighten a screw’ on an already existing tune, not something I particularly enjoy doing. Jon Kolodner, Aerosmith’s A & R man, was overseeing their new record, and they had a tune that he thought had potential as a single, but in it’s present state was missing ‘something’.
After weeks of listening to the track and talking to Steven, the band flew me up to Vancouver where they were finishing up Permanent Vacation. I felt that the song didn’t need a rewrite because it was already pretty good, but I didn’t like the title, and hence what the song was about. It was called Ragtime (not very edgy or sexy,or ‘anything’ really). I suggested to Steven that it could be more about him, and he should change it to Ragdoll. He loved the idea, we tweaked one line in the chorus and at the end of the song. He went in the vocal booth and resung all the choruses. Ragdoll was released as a single and became a big hit for Aerosmith. As far as what it was like to work with the Mad Hatter, what can I tell you that you don’t already know – he’s a mischievous, charming rock star and an amazing singer’. -HK
