1. NEW ROMANCE
‘This was the debut record of my first recording band, Spider. We were based out of New York City. The bassist and I were New Yorkers, and the other three members were from South Africa. It made for an interesting mix. I wrote or cowrote half the record and I think it was at this point that I realized I might actually be a decent songwriter. Before Spider I always thought of myself as a musician since I had started playing piano at the age of four.’-HK
