‘This version of The Best was recorded by Bonnie Tyler, (produced by Desmond Child) before Tina Turner cut it. A few months after its release, my publishers pitched the song to Tina who fell in love with it and decided she wanted to cut it. She did however, want Mike Chapman and I to write a bridge, so we got together and wrote one. It was a great suggestion on her part, now the song had some momentum and a climax which I have to admit really made the song flow better’. -HK
