THELMA & LOUISE/ SOUNDTRACK

Live From Earth/ Pat Benatar

DON'T LOOK BACK

Writers: Grayson Hugh/ Holly Knight

See that girl go walking

off to the horizon line

She’s going to a new life

going in her own good time

She ain’t takin’ no airplane

don’t wanna get there too fast

It’s not too late she can still take it back

maybe it all will pass

And she’s been down that road before

and she can’t go back there no more

Don’t look back

Keep right on that track

Don’t look back

Keep that sunshine on your back

Don’t stop to shed a tear

It ain’t as bad as that

That’s alright baby

Don’t look back

She made it down to the station

as the whistle started to blow

Up drives Johnny in his pickup truck

Grabs her and says don’t go

Tell me that you don’t love me

look me straight in the eyes

If you don’t tell me no stories

I won’t tell you no lies

Cause we’ve been down that road before

and we can’t go back there no more

Don’t look back

Keep right on that track baby

Don’t look back

Keep that sunshine on your back

Don’t stop to shed a tear

don’t be sorry or sad

That’s alright baby

Don’t look back

If somebody anybody tries to make you change your mind

Take your comfort from your courage

leave ’em all behind

It’s a year gone and a lifetime

since she left that old town

every now and then her name comes up as old friends sit around

Way off in the distance

a restless owl she cries

and there’s a young girl who’s leaving home

she’s looking for a brand new life

Don’t look back

Keep right on that track baby

Don’t look back

Keep that sunshine on your back

Don’t stop to shed a tear

It ain’t as bad as that

That’s alright baby

Don’t look back

Don’t look back

Keep right on that track

Don’t look back

Keep that sunshine on your back

Don’t stop to shed a tear

don’t be sorry or sad

That’s alright baby don’t look back

Keep right on it

Keep right on it

I CAN'T UNTIE YOU FROM ME

Writers: Grayson Hugh/Holly Knight

The time has tied

the mountain to the river

and tied that rollin’ river right down to the sea

Like the willow to the ground

Baby love has tied me to you Ohhh yes it did

and no matter what I try to do

I can’t untie you from me

And I walked a thousand miles

To the edge of every sea

And I’ve tried oh yes I’ve tried

But I can’t untie you from me

Babe I can’t do it I can’t untie you baby

Now people come into your life

and people they will go yes they will

Holding on to nothing at all

nothing but the passing day

When the night spreads out her song

Baby I know you got to listen Oh yes you do

For the truth that’s in your heart

Is never ever far away

And I walked a thousand miles

To the edge of every sea

And I’ve tried oh yes I’ve tried

But I can’t untie you from me

Babe I can’t do it

I don’t know what to tell you Oh yeah

Your name is on the wall

And it’s written on the deep blue bay

In the sky where eagles wander

Down in the shadows of the green leaves

And I walked a thousand miles

To the edge of every sea

And I’ve tried oh yes I’ve tried

But I can’t untie you from me baby

No I can’t

And I walked a thousand miles

To the edge of every sea

And I’ve tried oh yes I’ve tried

But I can’t untie you from me baby

2. I CAN'T UNTIE YOU FROM ME/ writers: Grayson Hugh/Holly Knight

‘I had two tunes I wrote with Grayson Hugh that made it into the movie and soundtrack for Thelma and Louise, ‘I Can’t Untie You From Me’ and ‘Don’t Look Back’. Ridley Scott wanted all three tunes that we had written together and were submitted for the movie, but Grayson’s record label was about to release his record and they didn’t want too many tunes in the movie for some unknown reason. That was a shame because the movie was hugely successful. I was such a big fan of Ridley Scott’s work (Alien, Bladerunner), so I was excited to be involved in any movie of his. I went to a private screening before it’s release, and when I walked out I was beaming. I knew this movie was going to be big, it was so damn good. In fact ‘Thelma and Louise was so big that it landed on the cover of Time Magazine for it’s controversial subject matter. Now my songs had been involved in two movies about women getting taken advantage of and fighting back  violently – my kind of story. (The Legend Of Billie Jean was the other one)’. HK
